From time to time Newberg Music Center hosts workshops featuring well know and accomplished Musicians in their fields. We love to learn. And workshops are great opportunity for us to provide our community (and ourselves) with the tools to improve our skills. A true stand-out addition to the Celtic music world. Joining her is Irish flute player and singer Hanz Araki who has toured internationally with Juno award-winning The Paperboys and The Casey Neill Trio; also The Bridies, Portland's all-star Pogues cover band among others, and is featured on over a dozen recordings and soundtracks, along with his own acclaimed CDs. Colleen and Hanz will be backed by guitarist and singer Casey Neill.- October 16, 2009 Rose Laughlin - Seattle Folk Singer Rose Laughlin sings traditional Celtic and American Roots songs. Come listen to where old meets new - August 22, 2009 Steve Smith and Chris Sanders - Original and traditional acoustic music for mandolin, mandola, guitar and vocals. - August 7, 2009 Charanga - The music of Charanga is a type of music featuring Galician bagpipes (gaita), saxophone, clarinet, accordion, violin and percussion. Throw in an electric bass and blend in the musical traditions of Galicia with a dash of Celtic, a hint of Arabic and a soupcon of jazz and the result is CHARANGA, a band from Southern Oregon which specializes in the wild, sultry, joyous music of Galicia, that most mysterious, green and alluring province nestled in the farthest Northwest corner of the Iberian Peninsula. May 21, 2009 Carolyn Cruso - is an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and composer.
